Kevin Johnson

Kkevinjohnsonevin Johnson is a strategic communications expert and founder of Urban Communications.

Kevin previously worked for ITV Central for some ten years and was responsible at board level for corporate communications and public affairs. He has an in depth knowledge of the media and digital sector, managing a number of brand changes and directing a series of regulatory and legislative lobbying campaigns. He developed ITV Central’s award winning diversity policy, sat on a Home Office Community Cohesion Panel and has given evidence to Parliament on the subject.

Kevin has worked with Birmingham Forward/Birmingham Future; Birmingham Hippodrome; Genting UK; Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP and The University of Warwick. Kevin has directed consultancy projects with the BBC, DCMS (digital switchover); Fair Cities Birmingham (DWP pilot project); Creative Birmingham Partnership Board; Birmingham Science City and Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country City Region.

Kevin is the senior non-executive director of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and a former Chairman of Lordswood Girls’ School and Specialist Centre for Media Arts in Birmingham. He is a former chairman of both the Publicity Association of Central England and the Marketing Society’s Midlands Team.
